When the first Humanist Manifesto was promulgated in 1933, Modern Humanism was a new religious and philosophical idea.  This was followed by the Humanist Manifesto II in 1973, the International Humanist and Ethical Union’s Amsterdam Declaration (on Humanism) in 2002, and the Humanist Manifesto III in 2003 (Humanism and its Aspirations).  These brief statements (included in links above) will be examined to see how humanist ideas have evolved over time, noting differences and common ideas.  Copies will also be provided at the course. Come and learn about the historical changes to humanist ideas.
