Dear NoVES Members & Friends,

We are delighted to announce our first NoVES Multicultural Open Mic event, which will be held on Wednesday, January 17th, from 7 to 9 pm, in Meeting Room 2 at the Reston Public Library (11925 Bowman Towne Dr, Reston, VA 20190). The event will provide a space for us to share our creative talents and express ourselves through various types of audible expression, including music and spoken-word poetry.
NoVES members are planning to perform musical numbers using their voices, as well as instruments including guitars, keyboards, harmonicas, and hand drums. Instruments and a microphone will be available for anyone to use on a walk-up basis. Musical pieces will be interleaved with international poetry readings in Spanish, French, and Malay/Indonesian, followed by their English translations.

We are actively seeking other participants from NoVES, as well as the community at large. While we are open to all types of topics; works with themes of justice, peace, etc., and those that offer diverse cultural perspectives are especially encouraged.

Whether you'd like to read a poem or words that someone else has written, recite something of your own, play a song, or just sit back and enjoy the talents of others, we hope that you will join us!
Best wishes from your fans, listeners, and fellow expressive humanists,

Mike Plampin and Govind Nair
